Kamal is firm on screening VR in DTH


Kamal is firm on his decision of screening and releasing his Vishwaroopam on the DTH platform. The actor is keen on to introduce the film in pay-per-view mode on direct-to-home (DTH) networks on the day of its release made in cinema halls.

Mr Kamal is of the opinion that by screening the film Vishwaroopam through the DTH, one could come to know about the film from the spot judgments and associated anxieties. The actor who participated in a function on Sunday said that the digital scanner should be seen as opening new avenues for revenues for cinema at a time when the video piracy was spoiling the industry by creating heavy loss to the producers.

The screener would be a one-time affair priced at Rs.1000.

When asked the actor clarified 'the encoded content of the movie will not be stored in DTH set-top boxes after it was viewed.

The actor is of the opinion that the majority of the people would be interested viewing the film in cinema halls with the world-class-technology, auro sound.

Kamal said, if good cinema was to thrive, the filmmakers must be allowed to explore all legitimate avenues for generating revenues.
