Vishwaroopam First Show Through DTH Opposed

Tamil Nadu Theater Owners' Federation President Abirami Ramanathan has appealed to Ulaganayagan Kamal Hassan to give up the idea of screening of Vishwaroopam on the first day of its release.

The idea of Kamal Hassan to exhibit the Vishwaroopam on the first-day through the DTH system has been opposed by the members of the the Tamil Nadu Theaters Owners Federation as they felt that it would affect the collection of cinema halls.

The Federation's president Abirami Ramanathan said that the actor Kamal Hassan who briefed the Federation members about the only one show that would be telecast through the DTH would woo most of the viewers to theaters. A fee of Rs.1000 would be collected from the persons who wished to enjoy the film on the day of its release and this would in no way affect the collection theaters screening the Vishwaroopam.

" Though Kamal has said this to us, we are in no way satisfied with the statement he had made " said Abirami Ramanathan.
Mr Ramanathan clarified, that when the film was exhibited through the DTH system, it was not only one person in the family would be enjoying the film, there might be hundreds of persons in houses, thousands of public visiting hotels and clubs would be witnessing the film, thus affecting viewers in many theaters.

Mr Ramanathan further added that the DTH has no plans to purchase the films produced with lowest budget. Hence, it automatically paves way for the closure of many theaters. It would affect the producers who produce films with low-budget.

The Federation members have jointly appealed to the actor Kamal Hassan to eschew the idea of screening the film through DTH.
