Onbadhu Rubai Notu - Review
( By N.Thyagarajan )
Madhava Padyachi is a farmer. He believes in hard work and straightforwardness. Like Madhavan his wife Padyachi also has the same mentality. Their three sons and two daughters are brought up by both by working hardly in the fields. When the children reach their old age, the parents are troubled by the problems are brought by them. The parents want to quit their home and hence move to a friend's house in a remote village. The friend being a close and true associate of Madhava Padyachi warmly welcomes them and feed them. But the Padayachis wanted a job, and hence request their friend to arrange a meat shop, so that they could live with the earnings and don't want to be a burden to their family. The friend also arranges a meat shop near a mountain.
After a long time Madhava Padyachi happened to meet his son and comes to know he is suffering. He narrates the difficult time faced by his son to his wife. Both plan go to their village. But being midnight by which time they might reach home will disturb their sleep, decided to go to the next day. But on the night, a serpent kills Madhava Padyachi's, wife and she dies. He alone does the obsequies to his wife and keeps beside the ashes of Velayee with him with an idea to take it one day to his native village.
One day Velayee appears in his dream and tells him that with her flesh and body she could not reach the village and requests her husband to mingle her ashes atleast in her native village. When Madhava Padayachi reaches his home, he witnesses that all his children were suffering under poverty. On seeing their sufferings, on his way to his house, he dies in a garden. This is the story which won awards some years ago.
Sathyaraj as Madhava Padayachi and Archana as Velayee have lived in their characters. The praise worthy scenes are when Sathyaraj carries his wife on his shoulders after bitten by a snake, and when his grand child dies on account of hunger, the expressions shown on the face of Sathyaraj adds the beauty to the acting. Similarly Nazar as Kaja Boy and Rohini as Kameela and Nitish Kumar and Inba Nila as Village lovers have lived in their characters.
The film's success is purely based on the people's viewing the story. If they give importance to the sentiments of the film's story, then the Nine Rupee Currency will coinage, other wise, it will be treated as a counter currency. Let us wait and see. But all the characters of the film have something in future waiting for them in the form of various recognitions.
