Bharathiraja, film director, right, releasing the CD “Sun Seeds” in Thanjavur on Monday. T. Bojapathy, former Rotary district governor, receives the first copy. Punitha Ganesan, Secretary, Bharath College of Science and Management, left, looks on.

“Sun seeds”, an album of three documentaries, produced by the students of visual communication department of Bharath College of Science and Management was released by film director Bharathiraja here on Monday.

The documentaries exhibited the rich imagination and social consciousness of the students.
One of the documentaries titled “Kadithasi” highlighted the dowry problem. The documentary starts with a letter written by the bride to her mother narrating the harrowing experience she had at her husband’s house. The letter, said in a song asking her mother to come and rescue her from the clutches of her husband and in-laws was packed with visuals. Bharathiraja said that it was really commendable to see that the episodes were packed in one song.

Another documentary likened the helmet to that of an egg. Eggs kept in a egg box are safe. Likewise a head under a helmet. Bharathiraja narrated his experience on how he entered the film world. “I have not studied in school and college. But I have been an observer of nature. I can imagine scenes to stories or dialogues. That catapulted me and popularised me among Tamil audience,” Mr. Bharathiraja said.

His first venture was an advertisement film which was rejected. He said that students who shot the documentaries seem to have the capacity to become good directors in future.

T. Bojapathy, former Rotary district governor, received the album from Mr. Bharathiraja. Punitha Ganesan, Correspondent and Secretary of the college, Sivapunniyam, Principal, Rajamanickam, Head of the Department of Visual Communication and Ponniyin Selvam, lecturer in the Visual Communication Department participated.
