Complaint of extorting ₹5 lakh... Bigg Boss celebrity Varshini arrested

A man has filed a complaint alleging that Varshini Venkat cheated him by asking him to invest money for making a short film.

Chennai, Sept.23:—

Police have arrested Bigg Boss celebrity Varshini based on a complaint that she threatened a young man and robbed him of ₹5 lakh in cash and his mobile phone.


Actress Varshini Venkat rose to fame through the popular Bigg Boss show aired on a well-known private TV channel. She gained attention after entering Bigg Boss Tamil Season 8 as a wildcard contestant, and later acted in the film "DD Next Level," starring Santhanam.

Complaint

Meanwhile, a man has complained that Varshini Venkat cheated him by asking him to invest money for producing a short film. In his complaint he filed with the police has alleged that, when he asked for his money back, she called him for a meeting on August 22, assaulted him, and robbed him of two mobile phones and ₹50,000. He further alleged that she later threatened him over the phone and extorted ₹5 lakh through a bank transfer.

He also stated in the complaint that she demanded ₹27 lakh and threatened to file a false case against him if he refused to pay. Based on this, police have registered a case and arrested Varshini. under three sections.
